More than just home to major manufacturers of alternative energy and agriculture, a look at the numbers illustrates Amarillo is the place for lasting success. Nearly 60% of our growing Amarillo and surrounding MSA population is of working age (between 20 and 65).

More than 50% have studied beyond high school and over 20% have graduated from high school, which are impressive numbers considering our two-county region is younger than the nation.

These are just some of the highlights of the data pointing to lasting success for businesses in Amarillo.

More than 10,000 businesses have operations in Amarillo especially in the manufacturing, retail, healthcare and social service sectors. But over the past 5 years, industries have started to shift towards more high-tech endeavors. Prime examples of this include the alternative energy producers and aviation companies.

As a result, household incomes from these high-paying jobs are reflecting in a strong local economy. Median household incomes are 16% higher than the nation, and 12% higher than Texas.
