The Amarillo EDC Announces Second Annual State of the Economy Event

The Amarillo Economic Development Corporation (Amarillo EDC) announced details for the organization’s Second Annual State of the Economy event to be held on January 22, 2020 at 7:30 a.m. in the Heritage Room of the Amarillo Civic Center, 401 S Buchanan St. The event will provide a brief update of Amarillo’s economic outlook and feature a keynote speech discussing macroeconomic issues and how they impact our community.

Headlining the event will be keynote speaker, Dr. Ray Perryman. Perryman is the President and CEO of The Perryman Group, an economic research and analysis firm based in Waco, Texas. Dr. Perryman will discuss his economic projections for the US, Texas and the Amarillo area. He will also describe key patterns and trends such as trade issues and changes in the energy sector which affect both the overall economic outlook and local industries.

“As an organization we’re excited to bring this event back for a second time,” said Kevin Carter, President and CEO of the Amarillo EDC. “It’s important for us to be a resource to the Amarillo community, and this event is the perfect way to do that. It will help inform citizens about how national economic issues impact us at home.”

The event will conclude with a panel discussion, moderated by Karen Welch of Panhandle PBS, that will include area business and economic experts.

“National economic activity impacts all communities, but current and past efforts by business and community leaders have placed the area in a favorable position for growth. I look forward to returning to the area and discussing the economic environment and outlook,” said Dr. Ray Perryman, President and CEO of the Perryman Group.

Along with the featured speaker, the Amarillo EDC will formally roll-out the organization’s latest investment into workforce development, the Take Root in Amarillo initiative and website.

Breakfast will be provided at the event, which is free and open to the public. Those interested in attending can register at www.amarilloedc.com/state-of-economy
