CenterPort Business Park Demonstrates Community Growth, Success

For an economic developer, few things are more exciting than seeing the dirt turn on a new project. Sure, the announcement of the company relocating or expanding in the community is great news and is worthy of a celebration. But there’s something about when the first shovel hits the dirt, when the foundation is poured or even when the walls start to go up. That’s when the real progress is seen.

The CenterPort Business Park here in Amarillo is the ultimate representation of the growth and success the community has witnessed over the past few decades.

What was originally a vacant piece of property being considered for a prison unit, the 440-acre site is now the area’s epicenter for manufacturing and distribution. With eight tenants producing products for global customers, CenterPort hosts approximately 850 employees each and every day. Ben E. Keith Foods, Pacific Cheese and Alstom Power are just a few of CenterPort’s thriving tenants.

The Amarillo EDC considers the CenterPort Business Park to be one of the area’s biggest assets when marketing the community to prospective companies. It signifies the type of diversified economy we must maintain. Master-planned and developed with the next project in mind, the investments made in rail and road infrastructure at CenterPort make it a uniquely equipped area for continued development.

With the new construction occurring each and every week out at CenterPort, we feel that it is great news worth sharing.

As part of our new blog, we plan to bring you regular updates on the developments and investments happening out at CenterPort each and every month. Whether it be new rail or roads going in, investments in utilities or news regarding current tenants, we hope you will share our excitement in the continued growth and success happening in Amarillo.
